Some of the chairs in the doctor’s waiting room seem almost normal, except for a small spreading rash, while others have come completely undone as disease has spread from those who sat there to the chairs themselves. |

Julie Levesque, installation artist, will transform the Rice/Polak Gallery into the frightening but bland world of the doctor’s waiting room. |

In the Arts
It’s a transient space. No one lives here. It is the moment before an explosion of information,” says Julie Levesque, installation artist, about doctors’ waiting rooms and how one sits, on hold, on display, hopeful, frightened, resigned. Levesque has taken that most public space, a waiting room where one is cheek-to-jowl with others, all waiting to find out what their future will be, and turned it into an installation piece, “In/Patients,” at Rice/Polak Gallery, 430 Commercial St., Provincetown. The show opens at 8 p.m. on Friday and is on display through Sept. 7. Read the story in this week’s Banner.
Also this week, read about Sebastian Junger’s new book; guess who’s back — the Atomic Bombshells; a review of WHAT play “On an Average Day;” a preview of the Jack Grace Band; photos from last week’s openings; previews of upcoming shows; upcoming DVD releases; listings and more.
