This and other stories in the arts this week

Pianist David Deveau will perform an eclectic, exciting program ranging from Beethoven to Liszt starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, at the Wellfleet First Congregational Church, 200 Main St., Wellfleet. Sponsored by the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, the spring concert is the first of a new series of twice yearly "Piano & Friends" concerts and a prelude to the summer festival being held July 29 through Aug. 17.

Sunday’s performance by Deveau will include five bagatelles from Op. 119 and the “Pastoral” Sonata in D Major, Op. 28, by Ludwig Beethoven; “Revoicing Echoes,” by Peter Child; “Estampes” by Claude Debussy; and Transcendental Etude No. 11 “Harmonies du Soir,” Etude “Ab Irato” and Hungarian Rhapsody No. 13 by Franz Liszt.

Deveau has performed with the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, San Francisco Symphony and Minnesota Orchestra as well as with the Houston, St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Pacific symphony orchestras. A Boston area resident, he has appeared as soloist with the Handel and Haydn Society, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Boston Philharmonic, Civic Symphony of Boston, New Philharmonia and the Newton Symphony. Deveau has also been a soloist with the Juilliard, New England Conservatory and Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic orchestras.
