Edwin Dickinson in Provincetown
By Susan Rand Brown Banner Correspondent
American original Edwin Dickinson (1891-1978), whose formative creative years were spent in Provincetown, helped form the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and refused to fit into any single style of painting.
To mark the 25 years in which Dickinson went from apprenticeship under Charles W. Hawthorne to recognition as a major American painter, PAAM is showing “Edwin Dickinson in Provincetown: 1912-1937,” which opens Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. and runs through Sept. 23. PAAM is located at 460 Commercial St., Provincetown.
For more on the Dickinson show, see the July 19 Provincetown Banner. Also, read a review of “Much Ado About Nothing” in Provincetown; “Daisy Crockett: Frontiersperson” at WHAT 4 Kids; a movie review of the new Harry Potter flick; an introduction to Galleria Cubana; Robert Finch’s new book, “The Iambic of Newfoundland”: the DVD release column; listings and more.
