Putting the fun in funny

It was 13 years ago that Judy Tenuta came to Provincetown and was handed a gift. She was in town to give a performance and just as she was about to go on stage at the Provincetown Town Hall she was informed that Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley had gotten married. Too rich a comedic opportunity to pass up, she let the good times roll. “I said, that’s just too priceless, it’s a comedy but it’s true,” she says. “I had a field day with it. I had to use it in my show.”
Slated to perform once again on Aug. 18 at Provincetown Town Hall, 260 Commercial St. at 8 p.m., Tenuta will also be grand marshal for the Carnival parade, beginning at 3 p.m. on Aug. 16, and she is psyched for both events. “I have to bring two outfits,” she says. “I’m still trying to pick something out. I don’t want the drag queens to show me up,” she adds, laughing.
Judy Tenuta performs at 8 p.m. Aug. 18 at Provincetown Town Hall. Tickets are $35 to $45. For information, call (508) 487-2313. If you can’t make the show catch the parade on Aug. 16 beginning at 3 p.m. when it goes down Commercial Street from the Cape Inn to Franklin Street.
