Eastham puts out the welcome mat
Banner Daily Update posted Sat. May 26

EASTHAM—Just in time to kick off the summer season, the Town of Eastham has a new welcome sign to greet visitors on Route 6 as they come off the rotary.
Paid for by the visitors tourism and promotion services board and supported by voters at Town Meeting, the new sign was handmade by Cape Craft Signs of Eastham and cost approximately $2,600. Owners of the company, Joe Rees and Dick Clark, performed the official unveiling Friday morning before a gathering that included Town Administrator Sheila Vanderhoef, Board of Selectman Chair Linda Burt and Prudence Kerry from the visitor’s board.
Rees and Clark pointed out that the sign, which has a raised banner and windmill on it, is made from high-density urethane and vinyl, which means it won’t warp, crack or retain moisture like wood does. The other unique quality the owners point out is that it’s completely handmade, a process that took roughly four weeks. Cape Craft Signs also created the welcome sign for Brewster.
The next step for the Eastham sign is for solar-powered lights to be installed so that the sign can be illuminated at night.
