Down 4-0 after two innings, the Provincetown baseball team scored nine unanswered runs to beat Sturgis 9-4 at Motta Field on Thursday. The win lifted the Fishermen’s record to 7-5, qualifying them for post-season play. Jonathan Peres had the complete game victory. Peres, shortstop Cody Silva and Dimitri Papetsas each scored two runs on the afternoon.
The Fishermen played their last regular season game at home against Chatham on Friday, a 12-1 loss against the now 13-7 Blue Devils. It was their third game in three days, facing a very strong, uncharacteristically big Chatham team. Both teams now await their playoff matchups. Provincetown ends the regular season with a 7-6 record.
