WOMR back on the air
Banner Daily Update posted Thurs. May 31
As of about 2 pm on Wednesday, May 30, “Outermost Community Radio” WOMR 92.1 FM has resumed its regular FM broadcast. The station’s transmitter was damaged earlier in the week, and the compromised component has been removed.
While the replacement part is being shipped and installed, WOMR will be broadcasting at one-third power: 2,000 watts, rather than its normal 6,000. Reports from listeners indicate that reception is reasonably good in much of the station’s normal coverage area, and very good from Provincetown to Wellfleet and in locations as far away as Plymouth that border on the Cape Cod Bay.
WOMR Executive Director David Myers remarked: “We are glad to be back on the air so quickly, and we look forward to resuming our broadcast at full power. We thank our listeners for their patience and loyalty, and we salute the dedication and ingenuity of our engineering team.”
Outermost Community Radio – non-profit, non-commercial community radio for Cape Cod and beyond – currently broadcasts from Provincetown at 92.1 FM, and on the World Wide Web at www.womr.org.
