Sunday, nearly 350 people gathered behind the former Catholic church across from Town Hall in Wellfleet to enjoy fresh Cape Cod strawberries, crushed and poured over shortcake with a dollop of homemade whipped cream on top. The annual Strawberry Festival, the Historical Society’s big fundraising event of the year, ran from 2–4 p.m. and drew long-time residents and out-of-town visitors alike, some from as far as Grand Rapids, Michigan.
This year, the Wellfleet Preservation Hall folks also took part in putting the festival on. Read more about the festivities in this week’s Banner.
