The benefits for Caleb Potter, the young Wellfleet man seriously injured in a July 4 skateboard accident, just keep coming. Many people in Wellfleet are talking about how organized the young people have been in setting up these benefits and how it has brought the town together.

Caleb is still in Mass. General but may be transferred to Spaulding Rehab before long. He suffered extensive injuries to his face and head in the accident. His next surgery is scheduled for Wednesday to remove the wires from his jaw and to work on his left eye. There is a prayer circle Tuesday night at 9 p.m. on the Town Hall lawn to pray for his eye.

In the next ten days, there are four scheduled events beginning with the Caleb Potter Wellfest Concert at Mayo Beach from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 26. The concert features the Rip It Ups with some special guests lined up to take the stage as well. Pirate flags and tee shirts will be sold and there is a 50/50 raffle. Almost two dozen local shellfishermen — Caleb is one, too — will donate and shuck oysters and littlenecks all evening. All proceeds go the Caleb Potter Benefit Fund.

Next up, Teddy and Friends will entertain at a benefit at Winslow Tavern, 316 Main St.Wellfleet from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, July 28. Keith Rose will donate shellfish for the raw bar and a portion of the entire night’s proceeds will go the fund.

On Monday, July 30, Moby Dick Restaurant, 3225 Route 6, Wellfleet will donate a portion of its proceeds from the night to the fund.

Ending this round of fundraisers is Caleb’s Wicked Jag from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at the Wicked Oyster, 50 Main St., Wellfleet. This event features food, a raw bar and a full bar. There is a live auction at 7 p.m. and a raffle. J Trees DJ spins at 8 p.m. and the ever popular Squidda plays at 10:30 p.m. There is a requested $10 donation at the door.

On Aug. 2 Chris Smither and Patty Larkin are giving a benefit concert at the Wellfleet Congregational Church for WHAT, the restoration of doors at the Preservation Hall and Caleb’s fund.

On Aug. 18 there is a spaghetti dinner at he Masonic Hall at the corner of Commercial and Bank streets and on Aug. 20 a concert is set for the Wellfleet Congregational Church.

The Caleb Potter Benefit Fund is to “collectively fundraise with respect and integrity for the purpose of financial help for the Estate of Caleb Potter; to be used for uncovered medical expenses, living expenses and any other related costs as the family and legal guardians of Caleb deem necessary.”
