EASTHAM — Late Saturday night, approximately 30 guests at the Four Points by Sheraton Eastham were evacuated for up to 40 minutes due to a phoned-in bomb threat, according to a source at the hotel. Traffic on Route 6 was also detoured for roughly the same amount of time.
Roughly 25 of the 107 rooms at the hotel were evacuated before police cleared the building for guests to return. It was the decision of Eastham Police Department to evacuate the building, hotel sources say.
Reportedly police swept the corridors of the hotel for any suspicious devices without the aid of any bomb-detecting equipment or animals.
Eastham Police are investigating the incident. Communicating a false report or a bomb threat is a felony and can result in severe penalties.
