Pianist Karine Bagdasarian will perform a solo piano concert Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Wellfleet public Library on West Main Street. Slated to be performed are works by Brahms, Haydn and Hayg Boyadjian, who divides his time between Wellfleet and Lexington.
Born in Paris, Boyadjian and his family emigrated to Buenos Aires when he was a youngster. It was there that he began his musical studies. In 1958 the family moved to the United States where he continued his studies at the New England Conservatory and Brandeis University. He has composed several works, from chamber to symphonic, many of which have been recorded and performed throughout the world.
Bagdasarian has performed extensively as both a soloist and a chamber musician. She holds degrees from conservatories in Armenia and Russia. A professor of piano performance at Yerevab State Conservatory, she has performed all over the world, often premiering new compositions, some of which were written for her or dedicated to her. For her concert, Bagdasarian will be playing Sonata No. 3 by Boyadjian, who dedicated the piece to her. The pianist lives in the Boston area and performs and teaches at Newton Country Day and Brookline Music Schools.
