TRURO –A portion of Route 6 in Truro will be closed on Tuesday so that the accident reconstruction team can do further work relative to last week’s fatal crash that took the life of Truro resident Edith Sweet.

The Truro Police Department has announced that Route 6 between Pamet Roads and Prince Valley Road will be closed entirely on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to about noon. This closure will also be dependent on clear and dry weather. The department understands that this will cause an inconvenience; however, this closure is needed to facilitate further investigation into the fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred last week. Road closure signs will be posted, and the Truro DPW will be placing appropriate signage along the detail route.

Eastbound traffic on Route 6 will be closed at Prince Valley Road. Detour onto Prince Valley, north on Old County Road to Depot Road to Truro Center where Route 6 can be accessed.

Westbound traffic on Route 6 will be closed at Pamet Roads exit (Truro Center). Detour onto Depot Road, south on Old County, east on Prince Valley to Route 6.

In the event of bad weather the closure will be postponed until Wednesday, November.

WELLFLEET - Meanwhile another driver escaped serious injury when his pickup truck rolled over in Wellfleet. It happened about 2:30 a.m. Friday on Route 6 near the Marconi Station turnoff. Wellfleet Police are investigating.

Tim Caldwell of Cape Wide News contributed to these reports.
