The Nauset High School football team ended their season Thursday morning with the 12th annual Chowder Bowl against their regional rival Dennis-Yarmouth, a hard-fought but lopsided 41-9 loss to the Dolphins in front of a huge crowd and under sunny and warm conditions in Yarmouth.
The win gave D-Y, 10-1, a share of the Atlantic Coast League championship but, unfortunately, it was Marshfield who went to the post-season (having beaten D-Y two weeks ago). The loss ends Nauset season with a 1-9 record.
Brian Niezgoda kicked a 26-yard field goal early in the second quarter to bring the Warriors to within three (6-3). Later in the quarter Brandon Scalley caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Connor Seymour pass. D-Y led at the half 28-9.
Nauset rushed for 87 yards and gained 113 yards passing, for 200 yards in a total offense. Seymour was 9-for-22, with two interceptions.
D-Y rushed for 243 and passed for 146, for 389 yards in total offense. There were very few penalties.
