PROVINCETOWN – A high-end guest house that has been a fixture here for years will be sold to its competitor.
The owners of Crowne Pointe Historic Inn & Spa will purchase the Brass Key Guesthouse. Thomas Walter, principal and general manager of Crowne Pointe, said both guest houses will remain inns and will not be converted to condominiums, as has been the case in multiple other guest house sales over the past decade. The purchasers, Walter, David Sanford and Kenneth Masi, plan to keep the two guest houses separate and keep the staffs intact.
“Both properties have their unique characteristics and great teams of people,” Walter said Friday. “The Brass Key team has been very supportive of local community events and organizations and we look forward to continuing those traditions.”
Walter wouldn’t comment on the terms of the sale, which is expected to close around March 1. The Brass Key had been listed for $7.7 million on the multiple listing service for approximately one week before the purchase agreement was announced.
Walter said Brass Key owner Michael MacIntrye, who operated the guest house for 23 years, had approached him “awhile ago” to discuss a possible sale. MacIntrye, who could not be reached for comment, will continue to operate Land’s End Inn, which had been on the market for over a year.
“In the ever-shrinking supply of much-needed Provincetown guest rooms, rest assured we have no intentions of any condo conversions at Crowne Pointe or the Brass Key,” Walter said.
