WELLFLEET—Fire Chief Daniel Silverman looked proud in his dress uniform as he addressed the more than 60 assembled politicians, colleagues, town employees and supportive citizens through a megaphone on the moist, freshly dug up future site of the town's new fire-rescue station.
Bufftree Building Company, of New Bedford, has been working on the site located across from the existing police/fire station on Route 6 at the Gross Hill Road intersection for several weeks now, but on March 6, the Wellfleet Fire-Rescue Department had the official groundbreaking ceremony for the estimated $7.68 million project. Voters approved roughly $6.6 million for the facility at December 2007 Town Meeting in addition to just more than $1 million appropriated at past Town Meetings.
