On Saturday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater presents the Chatham Chorale in a special benefit performance of four sets of music. The concert is at the Julie Harris Stage on Route 6 in Wellfleet next to the Post Office. Tickets are $20 general admission, $50 for premiere tickets including a reception after the concert. Call (508) 349-WHAT.
The evening will include: International Folk Songs, featuring Chilcott's “The Making of the Drum,” with marimbist Mark Prall, the principal timpanist with the Cape Symphony Orchestra, as well as music from Africa, Ecuador, Cuba and Hungary; a set of music with text from Lewis Carroll's “Alice In Wonderland” masterpiece; choral pieces from Appalachia and Great Britain; and a set of Classic American popular music (Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Gershwin and Bernstein).
On Sunday at 4 p.m. Paul Bisaccia returns to the Steinway at the Federated Church of Orleans, 162 Main St. when he performs a concert of Gershwin tunes sure to trip you back on Memory Lane. Among the old favorites are “Swannee,” “’S Wonderful” and “I Got Rhythm.”
A highlight of the performance will be when Bisaccia performs his solo version of “Rhapsody in Blue,” which he played when he performed on the PBS special, “Gershwin by Bisaccia.” Interspersed throughout the concert will be bits of history, humor and anecdotes that bring the great musician back to life, if only for a couple of hours. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
