Boat Collision Off Highland Light
The Boston trawler Flow was rammed Tuesday at midnight by the freighter S.S. Corner Brook four miles off Highland Light. Due to the heavy blanket of fog the freighter was unable to see the trawler.
Captain Charles Evans, master of the S.S. Corner Brook, sent out a hurried call for help from the Coast Guard. Immediately the Wood End picket boat with Edward Andrews in charge and the Boston Coast Guard boat, Acushnet, raced to the scene of the disaster. Two men were badly hurt on the Flow. Damage was reported to the extent of a smashed companionway aft of the boat, the after mast carried away and the loss of the life boat.
The Wood End boat fortunately found the life boat and restored it to the Flow. At 6 a.m. Wednesday morning the crippled trawler was towed back to Boston by the Acushnet.
The trawler was bound for Boston after an eight-day fishing trip. Fourteen men were aboard.
The Wood End Coast Guard picket boat had on board beside the officer in charge, Mr. Andrews, Mr. White, Boatswain’s mate; Mr. Oliver, Motor machinist’s mate; surfman Cabral, and surfman Flores.

Wellfleet To Honor Pioneering Captain Who Introduced Bananas 75 Years Ago
The people of the tree-shaded town of Wellfleet, on Cape Cod, are this year commemmorating the achievements of a distinguished son, Captain Lorenzo Dow Baker, who in 1870 brought the first bananas to the tables of the world. Previous to that time the fruit was known only to Americans along the Gulf Coast and in some instances, notably in Mobile, was being grown in greenhouses. It had long been the custom of American skippers while their vessels were in the banana zones to add the fruit to the rations served to passengers and crews and many a captain had tried unsuccessfully to bring a few bunches to his home port. Bananas would not keep: after a week the unconsumed fruit would have to be tossed overboard.

Three Old Friends At Sea Horse Inn
Tomorrow night the Sea Horse Inn will stage a real surprise program by bringing together three outstanding “greats” in the entertainment world and long-time popular stars with Cape End visitors.
Julius Monk, foremost “starlighter” of the night club nights is back in Provincetown to which he has brought so many now famous stars and will spend the season here. On the program will be Odette Myrtil, “answer to the fountain of youth” and at the piano will be Roger Adams, noted composer and arranger, here for a short stay after which Julius will take over at the piano which he can do with such skill and gusto.
Odette Myrtil was born in Paris where she started her career as a violin prodigy at a very early age. The concert platform, however, was not enough room for this talented artiste and very soon she found herself a star of the English stage appearing in the famous Charlot Revues. Hearing of her tremendous success, Florenz Ziegfield brought Miss Myrtil to America for an edition of his famous Follies. The movies then grabbed her services and she has appeared in more than twenty films for all the major Hollywood companies
