Hardware stalwart goes ‘green’
This and other stories in the news this week
PROVINCETOWN — New blood and a new vision are in store for one of the town’s hardware mainstays, Conwell Lumber Co. Jeff Rogers, the new manager, is taking over for his parents, Charles and Joan Rogers, who are in the process of retiring after owning the store for 19 years. As part of a rebranding of the hardware store, Rogers is opening a business within a business, focusing on environmentally friendly construction and cleaning products.
The store will be renamed the New England Green Building Center, or N.E. Green, for short. Timed to open this weekend to coincide with Earth Day, Rogers, who spent the last eight years as an environmental consultant, said he will carry a wide line of paints, caulks, insulation, cabinets and other building and cleaning materials designed not to hurt the environment or the people who use them.
