Animal shelter gets special permit
PROVINCETOWN — A long-awaited proposal to create a local animal shelter passed a last hurdle last week when the zoning board of appeals unanimously approved a special permit.
The Carrie A. Seaman Animal Shelter had received voter approval at the April 2006 Town Meeting to allow the organization to apply for a special permit to establish a shelter in a residential neighborhood. The permit gives the organization the go-ahead to remodel a four-bedroom house at 5 Sandy Hill Lane for use as a dog and cat shelter.
