VNA nurse enjoyed Cape Cod wildlife BANNER STAFF
Geraldine Mary 'Honey' Kelly, 50, died at her Wellfleet home on Aug. 8.
Ms. Kelly was born in Bayside, Queens in New York City to the late Francis S. and Mary G. (Mahoney) Kelly. She was raised in Worcester, where she was a 1968 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. She then continued her education at Boston City Hospital School of Nursing and conducted additional studies at Anna Maria and Assumption colleges.
Ms. Kelly was employed for many years as a registered nurse at various hospitals and doctors' offices in the Worcester area. In 1990 she moved to Wellfleet and joined the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod. During her tenure at the VNA she cared for patients from Dennis to Provincetown.
She was fond of wildlife, particularly birds and whales, and was a member of the Mass. Audubon Society in Wellfleet and various whale rescue groups. She enjoyed the beaches and natural settings of Cape Cod and was partial to the work of Cape area artists. She also enjoyed antiquing and going to flea markets.
She is survived by her sisters, Karin M. Cordial of Sterling, Susan A. Holmquist of Worcester and Mary B. Foley of Westborough, as well as five nieces and nephews and one grand-niece.
