John J. Corley, Jr., 80
Retired lab technician, Navy veteran of WW II BANNER STAFF
John J. 'Bud' Corley Jr., 80, of Framingham, died Monday, Nov. 17, at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.
He was the husband of Katherine T. (White) Corley.
Mr. Corley was born in Framingham and was a graduate of Framingham High School.
Mr. Corley enlisted in the Navy at the beginning of World War II. He served aboard the USS Cole and with amphibious units in the North African and Italian campaigns. His unit was awarded a presidential citation and five battle stars.
Returning to Framingham after the war, he owned and operated Buddy's Taxi Service, and worked for a time for Lewis Furniture. From 1953 until his retirement in 1985, he worked as a logistics technician at Natick Labs.
He enjoyed horse racing and spending time in Provincetown, where he spent most of his youth and much of his retirement.
He was a member and past commander of the JFK Disabled American Veterans Post in Framingham, a life member of the VFW and the National Association of Government Employees.
Surviving besides his wife are three children, Joan Guerreiro and her husband, Robert, of Provincetown; Joseph Corley and his wife, Barbara, of Leominster; and Kathleen Morganti and her husband, Paul, of Holliston; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Maurice and Raymond Corley and sister Marie Woodcock.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, Nov. 21, at St Stephen's Church, Framingham. Burial followed at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
