Richard Charles Taylor, 64

Shellfisherman was Korean War veteran

Richard Charles Taylor, 64, of Wellfleet, died on Oct. 1 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was the husband of Linda Lee (DeLory) Clark Taylor.

A lifelong resident of Wellfleet, Mr. Taylor was born in Barnstable and raised and educated in Wellfleet. He attended the Wellfleet Consolidated School.
Mr. Taylor served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman during the Korean War.

He was recently employed as the maintenance manager at the Sandcastle Condominiums in Provincetown.

He enjoyed working on his shellfish grant. In addition, he liked country music and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is remembered by many for his love of his Honda motorcycle and riding along Cape roads.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Dove M. Coleman Engberg of Harwich, Bear E. Taylor of Pittsfield, Pa., Fawn Taylor of Dennisport and Sensearay Elliot of Dennis; five stepchildren, Karen C. Murphy of South Wellfleet, Kurtis W. Clark of North Eastham, James W. Clark of Wellfleet, Laymon W. Clark of Chatham and Lee R. Clark of Wellfleet; a brother, Robert E. Taylor of Manito, Ill.; a sister, Shirley A. Vansaghi of Manito; and his former wife, Ann F. Pinkham of Wellfleet. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one great grandchild, 12 step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, in the Wellfleet Methodist Church, Main Street, Wellfleet. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215, or to the Cape Cod Hospital, c/o The Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA 02601-9978.
