Malcolm Sydney Currier, 90
North Truro summer resident
Malcolm Sydney Currier, 90, a resident of Marco Island, Florida, and a summer resident of North Truro, passed away peacefully with his wife Evelyn at his side, February 23.
He was born July 10, 1914 in Dorchester, Mass., graduated from Newton High School and Massachusetts Nautical School, served in the U.S. Army for five years during WW II as Warrant Officer plus Chief Mate on a mine planter and on a hospital ship in Little Creek, Va. and the Pacific.
He worked for the U.S Postal Service for 35 years, and he and his wife operated a family camping area on Cape Cod for 30 years.
Upon retirement, he lived in North Truro and Marco Island, Fla. He was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Marco Island Shell Club and enjoyed painting and playing the organ.
He is survived by Evelyn, his wife of nearly 63 years, their four children, Joan, Steve, Cheryl and Brad, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at Wesley United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Naples, Florida, the American Cancer Society or Wesley United Methodist Church.
