Peter Broderick Flynn, 71
Real estate developer
Peter Broderick Flynn, 71, of North Eastham and Melbourne Beach, Fla., died on June 22 of cancer after a short illness.
Born in Boston in 1933, Mr. Flynn attended high school in Northboro and played basketball and football. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Flynn began his career in sales at the Lilly Tulip Cup Company. He moved to the Cape in 1969 and began his real estate career. As president of Broderick Associates, Ltd., he converted many cottage colonies into condominiums from Maine to Provincetown.
He was an avid reader and was interested in ancient history. He was known to break out in song, his favorite being the Jamaican Farewell song (“Sad to say I’m on my way, won’t be back for many a day, my heart is down my head is turning around…”), at family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; two sons, Jonathan of New York City, and Steven of Harwich; a daughter, Julia of West Palm Beach; a stepson, John William Reilly of Eastham; a stepdaughter, Kim Reilly of Orleans; two brothers, William of Nashua, N.H., and Richard of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Mary Jane Gogan of Madison, Wis.; and 14 nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. July 15, at The Federated Church of Orleans, 162 Main St., East Orleans.
