Yvonne “Pinky” Ramos, 67
Community activist, retired nurse
Yvonne “Pinky” Ramos, 67, of Richmond, Calif., formerly of Provincetown, died Aug. 31.
Ms. Ramos was born in New Bedford. She graduated from nursing school in Hyannis in 1959. In 1959 and 1960 she lived in Provincetown and worked as a nurse at the Cape End Manor. She also worked as a chambermaid at a Beach Point motel.
In 1961 she and Barbara “Maebush” Stevens, a Provincetown resident, went to California. According to Stevens, the two have been friends for 55 years.
Ms. Ramos was politically active, serving as campaign manager last fall for a Richmond city council candidate. She also was working to revitalize Richmond’s downtown, was a champion of the elderly and organized her neighborhood watch committee.
Ms. Ramos was described as a passionate, active person who would “volunteer for anything that needed to be done.”
She is survived by a daughter who lives in Stockton, two grandchildren and many friends.
