Born in Spring Valley, N.Y., Mrs. Hulin lived in Nyack, N.Y., and Summit before moving to Berkeley Heights in 1967. Before her marriage she worked as a cashier for Rockland Power and Light Company and for a local photographer in Nyack, N.J.
Active in the United Methodist Church in Summit for over 60 years, she was a Sunday school teacher, chairman of children’s work, kitchen chairman, member of the church sewing committee and worked on the yearly rummage sales even until she was 98 years old. A member of the Berkeley Heights Senior Citizen’s, Mrs. Hulin was an Overlook Hospital volunteer for 30 years where she was a member of the Thursday “Busy Bees,” sewing for the hospital every Thursday.
Mrs. Hulin enjoyed feeding the birds and was an avid fisherman with her husband, Lynford. She caught a 42-pound striped bass while surf casting from the beach, and held the record catch for the family for 10 years before her husband caught a 48-pounder and outdid her record catch.
She and her husband vacationed most summers at the Whitman House and at South Wind Court in the fall until building their own home in Truro in 1964.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly A. Wolff of Summit and Truro; granddaughters Kimberly Ryan of Wilmington, Del., Lori Hay of New Providence, N.J.; grandsons Douglas Wolff of Yardly, Penn., David Hoy of Bedminster, N.J. and Christopher Hoy of Cranford, N.J.; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Aug. 17 in the United Methodist Church, Summit, N.J., with arrangements by the Bradley-Brough Funeral Home.
