OBITUARIES

Wanda L. Johnston, 82

Devoted mother, world traveler

Wanda L. Johnston, 82, of East Orleans, died of age-related complications at her home overlooking the Mill Pond on Nov. 18. Her husband Arch B. Johnston survives.

She was born on Oct. 5, 1923, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She married her husband of 62 years on March 15, 1943.

She managed the Cape Codder guesthouse in Provincetown as a means of giving her children an entire summer at the beach when her husband worked in Provincetown briefly in 1962.

Her full-time life on Cape Cod began in 1972, after her youngest child left for college, when she and her husband settled on Commercial Street in the East End of Provincetown. In 1975 they moved up-Cape to Orleans.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Frank Brignoli of East Dennis; her eldest son and wife, Eric Johnston and Ann Lindberg and their children, Erica and Ingrid, of Greensboro, N.C.; and her youngest child and wife, Dana Johnston and Muffin Milligan of Eugene, Ore.
