Bridget Flaherty, 93
Summer visitor with local ties
Bridget “Bea” (O’Donnell) Flaherty, 93, died on Feb. 12 at her home in Norwood. She was the wife of the late Joseph Flaherty, who died in 1949.
Born in Galway, Ireland, Mrs. Flaherty lived in Norwood since 1939. Along with raising her three children on her own, she was a member of St. Catherine’s Ladies Sodality of Norwood and worked in the housekeeping department of Norwood Hospital for many years. One of her favorite things to do was to spend weekends and vacations on Provincetown’s beaches with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Flaherty is survived by daughter and son-in-law Mary and Francis Peters of Provincetown, daughter Julie Flaherty of Norwood, and son and daughter-in-law John and Maureen Flaherty of Bedford, N.H.; four sisters, Sheila Connelly of Galway, Ireland, Cathleen O’Donnell of Spiddal, Ireland, Anne Cusack of Manchester, England, and Barbara Costello of Norwood; grandchildren Stephanie Peters and Jaime-Lyn Peters Ribeiro of Provincetown and Ryan Peters of Cambridge; great-grandchildren Carly Prada, Monica Prada and Skylar Peters Ribeiro of Provincetown and Cassidy Sullivan and Tyler Sullivan of Plymouth, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
