Rebecca M. Burhoe, 87
Provincetown native was devoted to her family
Rebecca M. Burhoe, 87, of North Truro, died Sunday, March 5, at the Cape End Manor in Provincetown, after an illness. Her husband of 50 years, Richard Burhoe, died in 1988.
Born and educated in Provincetown, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Eva (Prada) Fratus. Mrs. Burhoe was a homemaker. She moved to California with her husband in 1965 and returned to Provincetown after his death. She worked seasonally at the Grand Union and former A & P Supermarkets until she retired four years ago.
A member of St. Peter the Apostle Parish, she enjoyed knitting and sewing, but most of all being with her family.
She is survived by a son, Richard Burhoe of North Truro; two daughters, Nancy Burhoe of North Truro and Nanette Paiva of California; several grandchildren, James Hill of N.Y., Jennifer Brooks of N.C., Shannon Hatch of Calif., Shane Burhoe of Truro, Melissa White of North Truro, Eric Morea of Truro, Jared Burhoe of Weymouth, and five great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. A brother, Frank Fratus, whom she raised, and a granddaughter, Danya Schlater, predeceased her.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 13, at the Monsignor Duarte Chapel in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Jerome Smith Road, Provincetown. Burial will follow in Provincetown Cemetery.
