Geri Beth Dubin, 47

Former Provincetown resident held tuna-catching record

Geri Beth Dubin, 47, of Chesterfield, Mass., and formerly of Provincetown, died May 9 at her home.

She was married to Sarah Carlstrom.

Ms. Dubin was born on Feb. 19, 1959, the daughter of the late Paul Dubin and Judith Deutsch. She was born in Great Neck, N.Y., and raised in New York City. She was educated in New York schools and graduated from Vassar College with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. Ms. Dubin enjoyed life to the fullest and was an avid traveler. She loved reading, indulging in literature of all types, and she loved to write. She especially enjoyed drama. A student of the world, she especially enjoyed Japanese culture. She reveled in her friends and loved animals. Food and soul music were her comforts and she collected pottery of all kinds.

She made New England her home, finally settling in Chesterfield after residing in Northampton. She had lived in San Francisco and in Japan where she taught English and traveled to the Far East several times. She lived in Provincetown during the 1990s and worked at Womencrafts and Hersheldon’s Leather.

Survivors include her wife, Sarah Carlstrom; two brothers, Andrew and Jason Dubin: two sisters, Jennifer and Michelle, and her sister-in-law, Toya; and a niece and nephew, Tristan and Toyita.

A celebration of her life was held May 12 at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton. Burial services are private and at the convenience of the family. Donations in Geri Dubin's memory may be made to the Chesterfield Fire Dept., P.O. Box 28, Chesterfield, MA 01012, or to the Dakin Animal Shelter, 163 Montague Road, Leverett, MA 01054.
