OBITUARIES

Michael Jersey, 54

Michael Charles Jersey, 54, died on May 7 at his home in New City, N.Y., after a long illness.

Born in Rockland County, N.Y., in 1952 to Francis and Elizabeth Jersey, he graduated from Clarkstown High School in 1971. He worked as director of community homes at Letchworth Village for the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities and was elected as the union rep for the Civil Service Employees Association for most of his career.

Mr. Jersey loved music and was an avid Beatles fan who collected Beatles memorabilia. He enjoyed going to the Jersey shore and visiting Provincetown, where he spent many a summer week and weekend. Most of all, he loved being with his children.

Mr. Jersey is survived by his two sons, David and Michael; his brother Dennis and his wife, Kathy, of Albany, N.Y.; and his brothers Brett and David.

Funeral services were held in May at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, and burial followed at Germonds Cemetery. Mr. Jersey was buried with his copy of the very first Beatles album.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y., 12550.
