David Germain, 53
David Germain, 53, of Jacksonville, Fla., died on Wednesday, July 26.
Mr. Germain spent summers in Provincetown as a child and maintained strong ties to the community throughout his life. He belonged to the West End Racing Club and the Provincetown Yacht Club. Family members say he always ran in front of the wind, sails full and spinnaker all out. Nightly jaunts to the library with his mother, Rhoda, brothers Andy and Neal and sister Amy were among his favorite memories of his boyhood summers in Provincetown.
During his adolescent years he worked at Sal’s Place with the Del Deos and spent a lot of time walking the dunes and beaches. Returning to Provincetown in his later years with his wife, Elisa, and three children, Mr. Germain cultivated a fondness for whale-watching and cruising the breakwater, the flats and downtown Provincetown.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two teenage daughters, Nicole and Alexis, and his 12-year-old son Schuyler, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; his brother Neal of Ruidoso, N.M., and sister Amy, recently returned to Provincetown; a sister-in-law, Irene, of Julian, Calif.; his mother, Rhoda, and stepfather, William Rossmoore; his father, Howard Germain; and his stepsisters Laura Yingling of Provincetown and Katherine Rossmoore Shields of Marshfield.
At the family’s request, memorial donations may be made to the Provincetown Public Library.
