Maryjane Harrington, 41

Former Provincetown resident worked at the Mews

Maryjane “Jane” Harrington, 41, of South Yarmouth, died on July 20.

Ms. Harrington was born in Brighton and grew up in Franklin, where she attended public schools. She briefly attended Norfolk Agriculture School before graduating from Franklin High School in 1983.

For many years she lived in Provincetown, working for local businesses such as the Mews Restaurant and Joe Trovato Refrigeration. She drove taxis for Mercedes Cab and Cape Cab.

In 2001, she moved to Yarmouth and worked at the Good Morning Cafe, where she was known as “the singing cook” because of her tendency to belt out tunes to the radio. Later she worked at the Home Depot in Hyannis and at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Kingston.

Ms. Harrington was a member of the Yarmouth Moose Lodge. She enjoyed singing, dancing, karaoke, softball and hand-painting T-shirts for her nieces and nephews. She also loved riding her motorcycle.

She was especially proud when her son joined the Air Force.

She is survived by her son, Patrick Aaron Harrington of South Yarmouth; her mother, Anne M. Harrington of Sandwich; three sisters, Marybeth Acosta of South Yarmouth, Maryellen Hoffman of East Northport, Long Island, N.Y., and Annmarie Palheiro of North Truro; five brothers, John J. Harrington III of Provincetown, Richard M. Harrington of Sandwich, Stephen E. Harrington of Ridge, Long Island, N.Y.; David W. Harrington of Sandwich and Charles F. Harrington of Pomfret, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Morris & O’Connor Funeral Home in South Yarmouth. A funeral Mass was held on July 26 at St. Pius X Church on Station Avenue in South Yarmouth.
