OBITUARIES

Leroy Francis Bent Sr., 89

LeRoy Francis Bent Sr., 89, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died on Aug. 17 at his residence.

Born in Provincetown, Mr. Bent came to Florida in 1967 from Toledo, Ohio. He retired after 30 years from the Coast Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer 4, and was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, the Veterans of Foreign War, Chief Warrant Officers Association and American Legion Post 17. He was also a Past Commodore of Smyrna Yacht Club.

Burial was at Arlington National Cemetery.

Mr. Bent is survived by his wife, Lillian, of New Smyrna Beach; his son, Leroy F. Bent Jr., of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Martha Neville of Berkeley, Calif., and Gay Midelis of Fort Pierce, Fla.; plus nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Settle-Wilder Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 406 South Orange St., New Smyrna Beach, is in charge of arrangements.
