Peter J. Perry, 78
WW II vet worked as private pilot
Peter J. Perry, 78, of Wellfleet, died on Aug. 15 at Cape Cod Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Paris, France, he was the son of the late Jennings and Patricia (Mohun) Perry.
During WW II Mr. Perry served as a medic in the Navy aboard a destroyer and also aboard the carrier Saipan, an amphibious assault ship stationed at Norfolk, Va.
For many years he worked as a technical director for various theater companies. Also for many years he lived in the Florida Keys and worked as a private pilot. He also ran a charter fishing boat in St. Croix. In 1990 he moved to Adair, Tenn., to retire to the family farm of his great-grandfather. He suffered a stroke in 1994 and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since. He moved permanently to Wellfleet in October of 2004.
In his spare time Peter researched his family genealogies and collected coins.
He is survived by his sister, Pamela (Perry) Wolff, and her husband, Anthony, of Truro and New York City; his nephew, Nicolas Wolff of Truro and New York City; his niece, Rebecca Wolff, and her husband, Ira Sher, of Hudson, N.Y.; his great niece, Margot; his great nephew, Asher; and his dog of 16 years, Bozo. Funeral services under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home of Provincetown are private. If desired, donations in Peter’s memory to Wild Care, 10 Smith Lane, Eastham 02642, would be appreciated.
