Robert J. Belletzkie, 84
Robert J. Belletzkie, 84, of Fairfield, Conn. and North Truro, died Aug. 24 at his summer home in North Truro. He and wife Silvia, who predeceased him in 1994 after 52 years of marriage, spent many happy summer seasons here, starting in 1981.
Known locally and in Connecticut as “Cape Cod Bob,” he had retired from McKesson Laboratories in Fairfield, Conn., and previously from Dictaphone Corporation in Bridgeport, Conn., where he was an electrical engineer and department foreman. During WW II he served in the Army as a medic and was stationed in both North Africa and Italy.
An avid musician, he played the steel guitar for almost 80 years. In his late teens, he founded and led Hawaiian-music quartets called Bob Bellett and His Islanders and The Kahlua Islanders, and played in many venues in Bridgeport and on the radio in Bridgeport and New Haven, Conn.
He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren, and by his friends of many years at Sutton Place East and this year at the Beach Point Grille. His online guest book is located at www.connpost.com for all who wish to offer condolences and get details about memorial services.
Editor’s note: Mr. Belletzkie’s obituary appeared in last week’s issue but contained several mistakes.
