Peter Darby Robinson, 74
Foreign correspondent for NBC New
Peter Darby Robinson, 74, of Provincetown, died Feb. 28 at Cape Cod Hospital.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Robinson was the son of the late Ted Jr. and Sally (Darby) Robinson and the grandson of the late Ted and Martha Robinson of Provincetown.
Mr. Robinson attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., and pursued a career in journalism, retiring in 1986. He spent many of his early working years as a foreign correspondent reporting from the Middle East and Europe and then worked for NBC News in Washington, D.C.
He moved from Washington to Provincetown in 1987, returning to where he felt most at home. His grandmother was a longtime resident of Provincetown, and Peter spent many years in Provincetown as a child.
He is survived by his son, Josh Robinson of Chatham, N.J.; his brother, Mark Robinson of Wilmington, N.C.; his sisters, Susan Elliott of London, England, and Joyce Keating of New York City; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of Luke Robinson, who has been missing since 1991. He was also the brother of the late Joanna Keys.
The family intends to have a memorial service in the spring. If desired, donations in memory of Mr. Robinson may be made to the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, 460 Commercial St., Provincetown, MA 02657. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home of Provincetown.
