Michael J. Crobar, 41
Commercial fisherman fished out of Provincetown & Wellfleet
Michael James Crobar, 41, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 5, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.
Mr. Crobar was born and educated in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to Provincetown as a teenager. He was a commercial fisherman for 25 years in Provincetown, Wellfleet and New Bedford. He moved to New Bedford two years ago.
Mr. Crobar is survived by two brothers, Thomas Crobar, of North Eastham, and James Crobar, of Newport, Oregon; a sister, Jeanne Freier, of Cleveland, Ohio; two nieces, Laura Freier-Heckler, of Seven Hills, Ohio, and Sherri Crobar, of Montana; six nephews, John Crobar, of Winthrop, Chris Crobar, of North Eastham, Jim Freier, of Parma, Ohio, Erin Crobar and Woody Crobar, of Newport, Oregon, and Rick Crobar, of Montana. He will be missed by his companion, Suzanne Bois, of New Bedford, several great-nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law and many friends on and off Cape. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer Lloyd Crobar and Virginia (Tweedale) Crobar, of Parma, Ohio.
Arrangements will be made to scatter his ashes and memorialize his life at a later date in Provincetown. A memorial service is to be held by his friends in New Bedford as well.
