Sherman J. Peters, 90, of Provincetown, died May 17 at Cape Cod Hospital following an apparent heart attack. He was the husband for 70 years of Rita (Gray) Peters.
Born in Provincetown, Mr. Peters was the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Perry) Peters.
He and his wife were married on April 21, 1937. He worked as a truck driver for Peters’ Express for many years and more recently worked as a gas station attendant in Provincetown.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Rose MacDougall, of Missouri, Mildred Kleips, of Provincetown, and Pauline Costa, also of Provincetown; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Thomas Peters and the late Virginia Belisle, and the brother of the late Joe, Manny, Mary and Frances Peters.
A funeral was held Monday at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown. Burial followed in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
