OBITUARIES

Helen I. Santos, 65

Helen I. (Rosa) Santos, 65, of Truro, died on Saturday, June 9, at Cape Cod Hospital. She was the wife of Francis Santos, to whom she was married for 47 years. Born at Cape Cod Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Dutra) Rosa.

Mrs. Santos had lived in Brewster, Dennis and Yarmouth but lived most of her life in Truro. She was a graduate of Provincetown High School. For the last seven years she was employed at the Wellfleet office of Benson, Young and Downs Insurance Company, where she specialized in commercial insurance. She had worked at Drake, Swan and Crocker Insurance in Orleans and Duarte Downey Insurance in Truro prior to that. When her children were little, she made time to serve as both a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.

Besides her husband she is survived by her six children, Robert F. Santos and his wife, Antoinette, of New Market, Md.; Michael I. Santos, of Harwich; David S. Santos, of Brewster; Arlene Hauser and her husband, Stephen, of Truro; Cheryl A. Friese and her husband, Ronald, of Truro; and Donna L. Santos, of Truro. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Diana and Bobby Santos of New Market, Md.; Kyle and Nicholas Hauser, of Truro; and Daniel Santos, of Harwich. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers, Jesse Rosa and Billy Noons, and her four sisters, Marie Davis and Debbie, Carol and Karen Rosa.

At her request, the funeral service and burial will be private. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Truro Rescue, c/o Truro Fire Department, P.O. Box 2013 Truro, MA 02666; to Lower Cape Ambulance Association, 25 Shank Painter Rd., Provincetown, MA 02657; or to Boston Medical Center Office of Development, 660 Harrison Avenue, 3rd Floor, Boston, MA 02118. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home of Provincetown.
