OBITUARIES

Mims Sparks, 43

Skilled member of Provincetown DPW

Mims Sparks, 43, of Truro, died Thursday, July 5, of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was the husband of Teri (Macioci) Sparks, to whom he was married for five years.

Born in Barnstable, he was the son of Eugene and Gail (Packett) Sparks of Truro. He was one of four children.

Mr. Sparks was a familiar and friendly face around Truro and Provincetown where he worked for the department of public works for 19 years. He frequently was asked to fill in as foreman for the highway department when the foreman was out of town, and was described as a very capable and licensed equipment operator as well as a skilled laborer.

He was a man who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. Besides spending time with family, he enjoyed lobstering and deer hunting. He always looked forward to relaxing with his wife, Teri, and friends at his vacation home in Morris, N.Y.

He will always be remembered for his quiet unassuming manner, his smile and his ability to make people laugh.

In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by his two sisters, Leanne Sparks Pimental, of Brewster, and Sheva Sparks Russell, of Truro, and his brother, Olin Sparks, of North Truro; his stepson, John Grigas, his stepdaughter, Samantha Grigas, and his step-grandson, Daniel, all of Standish, Maine; his four nieces, Chelsea, Lacey, Kaitlyn and Jasmin, and his nephew, Nicholas. He also leaves his three beloved cats Raider, Sierra and Misty.

A funeral service was held July 9 in the United Methodist Church in Provincetown. Arrangements are by the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown. If desired, memorial donations in honor of Mr. Sparks may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
