Marion C. Huffenus, 86
Marion C. Huffenus, 86, died Friday, July 6, at Pleasant Bay Rehab Center in Brewster after a brief illness.
She was born in New Jersey on Aug. 30, 1920, the daughter of Daniel and Emily Heitmann Busch. She married Michael G. Huffenus on Aug. 31, 1940. They raised their family in Rahway, N.J., before moving to Oldwick, N.J., in 1968.
Mrs. Huffenus loved Hunterdon County, where she gardened, raised sheep and had the horse she had always wanted. The couple retired to Cape Cod, building a home in North Truro in 1983. Michael passed away in 1999, and Marion continued to enjoy her life overlooking Cape Cod Bay.
She is survived by her loving children, a daughter, Suzan, and her husband, Thomas Whiteley, of Clinton, N.J.; two sons, Alan M. Huffenus and his wife, Virginia, of Easton, and Gerald Huffenus, of North Truro; her five grandchildren, Kenny and wife Michelle, Scott, Erin and Amy Huffenus, and Amanda Whiteley Conn and husband, William; and one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Jayne Conn.
A private service was held at Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Animal Rescue League, 1 Villages Drive, Brewster, MA 02631.
