Maureen P. Vail, 73

Maureen P. Vail, 73, of Orleans, formerly of Provincetown, died Aug. 7 at Cape Cod Hospital.

Born in Provincetown, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Flores and the late Mary Souza (formerly Mary Flores).

Mrs. Vail attended Provincetown schools and spent many years living in Thomasboro, Ill. She returned to Massachusetts approximately 20 years ago and settled in Orleans. She was the wife of the late Thomas L. Vail, who died in 1995.

Mrs. Vail is survived by her two sons, Thomas A. Vail of Orleans and Lawrence R. Vail of Gibson City, Ill., and several grandchildren. She is the step-daughter of John Souza of Provincetown. She was the sister of the late Richard Flores, Annette Kirkpatrick and Marilyn Manning. She also leaves many other relatives and friends on Cape Cod.

A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, in St. Peter the Apostle Cemetery in Provincetown. If desired, contributions in honor of Mrs. Vail may be made to Overlook Visiting Nurses Association, 38 Main St., W. Yarmouth, MA 02653. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home of Provincetown.
