OBITUARIES

Elizabeth A. Stevens, 68

Elizabeth A. “Betsy” Stevens, 68, of Sebastian, Fla., died Dec. 27 at the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, Fla., following a valiant two-and-a-half-year struggle against lung cancer.

Betsy was born and raised in Bridgeport, Conn. She lived in Connecticut for much of her life, settling in Florida in later years. She and her husband, Jim, built their dream house in Sebastian five years ago, and she took great pleasure in decorating and making her home a comfortable and pretty place for her family and many friends to visit.

Betsy worked 10 years for Disney Resort in Vero Beach and was the recipient of the Partners in Excellence Award. She amazed everyone who knew her by continuing to work through two years of chemotherapy and radiation.

Betsy was loved by everyone who knew her whether for years or days. She would do anything for you, and kept us all laughing through the tough times with her sense of humor, laughter and infectious giggle. Just thinking of her smile gives comfort to those she has left behind.

Betsy loved visiting Provincetown, which she did as often as possible. Her last visit was to celebrate her sister, Patti’s wedding.

Survivors include her husband, James Stevens of Sebastian; sister Patti Kane-Wood and her wife, Lynne, of Provincetown; brother Bryant Kane and his wife, Cindy of Trumbull, Conn.; son Dana D’Elia and his wife, Karen, of Derby, Conn.; and three grandchildren, Nicole, Kelly and Christopher E’Elia, all of Derby. Betsy will be dearly missed by all of her family, friends and fellow cast members.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
