OBITUARIES

Eleanor Saegaert, 93

Eleanor H. Saegaert, 93, of Truro, died peacefully Friday, March 15, at the Cape End Manor in Provincetown.

Eleanor was born in Hartford, Conn., and lived in the Hartford area most of her life. She was employed with North East Utilities in Berlin, Conn., until her retirement.

She then moved to Wellfleet and, a few years later, to North Truro to be closer to her father, Raymond Hurd. She helped care for him in the last years of his life, until he passed away in 1991.

Her last residence was at Harbor Lights cottage on Shore Road in Truro. She was very active in the Congregational Church in North Truro.

Eleanor is survived by a sister, Shirley H. Griswold, of Rocky Hill, Conn., and two granddaughters, Mrs. Susan J. Schumacher and Mrs. Cyndy L. Brooks, of Indiana. She was predeceased by a son, Donald R. Saegaert, who died in the Vietnam War in 1965. At Eleanor’s request, the scattering of her cremation will take place at her favorite locations on Cape Cod. The family would like to thank all the personnel at Cape End Manor for the kindness and wonderful attention that Eleanor received while in their care.
