OBITUARIES

Agnes M. Kelly, 84

Agnes M. “Brat” (Powers) Kelly, 84, of Wayland, died peacefully on Sunday, April 27, following a brief period of declining health.

She was born in Cambridge on Feb. 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Mathew and Mary T. (Crawley) Powers.

Mrs. Kelly was a resident of Wayland for over 50 years, previously residing in Cambridge and Arlington. She was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. For many years she was associated with her late husband’s business, VARI Comp of Boston, and for over 12 years was a secretary with St. Joseph Church in Lincoln. A devoted communicant, she was also active in the church’s building and renovation fund committee. She loved to spend time with children, was a very generous person and always put the needs of others before her own. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending summers in Provincetown. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her family.

She is survived by her children, Jeff Kelly and his wife, Jane, of Worcester, and Kathleen M. Kelly, of Wayland, formerly of North Truro. She was the grandmother of Jessica Kelly, of Worcester. She is also survived by her brother, John Powers, and his wife, Elizabeth Powers, of Acton; a sister-in-law, Sally Powers, of Wayland; and several nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late Austin W. Kelly, who died in 1976, and sister of the late Edward Powers.

Visitations will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2 at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off route 30), Wayland. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, at St. Joseph Church, 142 Lincoln Road, Lincoln.

Interment will follow in the Kelly family lot in North Cemetery in Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the St. Joseph Building and Renovation Fund.
