Christine M. Silva, 94

Former owner of Monument Fish Co.

Christine M. Silva, 94. of Provincetown died Friday at Epoch Senior Health Care Center in Brewster. Her husband of 34 years, Anthony E. Silva died in 1968.

Born in Portugal, September 23, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Manuel J. and Mary P. (Costa) Souza and the last of a family of eight girls and one boy. She was a graduate of Provincetown High School, class of 1931.

Mrs. Silva was a bookkeeper for the many Provincetown businesses she owned with her husband. They owned the former Cape Cod Garage, the Monument Fish Co., ChristineÕs Restaurant, which was located across from Town Hall, and CabralÕs Market on Bradford Street.

She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Parish and was treasurer of the former Catholic Daughters of America. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

A funeral mass was scheduled to be celebrated Wednesday in St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince St., Provincetown, followed by burial in St. Peter the Apostle Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Building Fund, 11 Prince St. Provincetown, MA 02657. Arrangements are being handled by Gately-McHoul Funeral Home in Provincetown.
