Russell E. Hunt
Russell E. Hunt died on Sept. 23 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Chatham.
Mr. Hunt was a native of Connecticut, graduating from Darien High School in 1953. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as a medic with the Marines. He attended the University of Connecticut before moving to Wellfleet in 1961. The devoted son of Norman and Helena Hunt, he shared a home with them during their retirement years.
Mr. Hunt was a well-respected custom builder on the Lower Cape. He was a very generous uncle who shared his special interests, including sailing, boating, scuba diving, fishing and model trains with his niece and nephews. His other hobbies were photography, vegetable gardening and raising farm animals. Most recently, Mr. Hunt lived in Hiram, Maine, where he enjoyed a quiet, rural way of life.
He is survived by his family: Patricia Canavari, his sister, of Truro; Wayne Canavari, of Truro; Russ and Brenda Canavari and their children, Heather, Brad and Leah, of Conway, N.H.; John and Susan Canavari, of New York City and Truro; Susan Canavari and Charlie Costa and their children, Christine and Matt, of Eastham.
