Yvonne S. Cabral, 78

PROVINCETOWN — Yvonne S. [Flores] Cabral, 78, a lifelong resident of Provincetown, died Sunday, Nov. 9, at home after an illness. She was the wife of Robert E. Cabral.

Born in Provincetown, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Palmeda (Lema) Flores. She attended local schools and graduated from Provincetown High School. She was very proud of the fact that during the 1940s, she led all the town and school parades as a majorette. In the 1960s, she owned and operated the Reef Dive and Gift Shop. Since 1967, she and her husband have owned and operated the Fisherman’s Wharf and Provincetown Marina.
Yvonne loved to travel extensively. She also enjoyed reading, knitting and working on her pottery. Above all, she enjoyed her family, being a mother, going to all her grandchildren’s events and spoiling them. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Parish.

Earlier this year Yvonne and Robert celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with some 75 members of their family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she leaves a brother, Frank Sylvia, of Taunton; three daughters, Yvonne Cabral-Edwards, Candice Silva and her husband, Steve, all of Provincetown, and Desiree Duda and her husband, Frank, of Truro; and a son, Vaughn and his wife, Mary, also of Provincetown. She also leaves grandchildren Asa and Tavis Cabral, Ross and Cody Silva, all of Provincetown, Sage Duda, of Truro and Aleeza Carroll, of Mashpee, as well as one great-granddaughter, Anna Carroll, of Mashpee. Her brothers Paul and Earl Flores predeceased her.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, from the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home, Harry Kemp Way and Howland Street, Provincetown. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Peter the Apostle Church, Prince Street, Provincetown. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., with Vigil Prayers at 6:30 p.m.

Donations in her memory, if desired, may be made to the Manor at Seashore Point Residents’ Fund, 100 Alden St, Provincetown, MA 02657.
