Kenneth Kozak, 61
Kenneth E. Kozak, 61, of Wellfleet, passed away on Nov. 15 at Liberty Commons in Chatham. He and his wife, Laura, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Nov. 8.
He was born in Hartford, Conn., on Nov. 27, 1946, to the late Edward J. and Loretta (Domian) Kozak. He graduated from Rockville High School class of 1964.
Kenneth put himself through college, graduating from Eastern Connecticut in Willimantic. He was a math and science teacher for 30 years at Vernon Center Middle School. He also taught chess to students and was coach of the school’s softball team, leading it to several undefeated seasons. He also coached Little League in Ellington, Conn., where he was successful as well.
His hobbies were golf and bridge. He was invited to play in regional bridge tournaments at the Hartford Civic Center. He was a member of the Elks clubs of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
In addition to his wife, Laura E. (Kautz) Kozak, he is survived by his sons, Christopher E. and wife Trudi, of Vernon, Conn., Andrew G. and wife Penny, of Clinton, Conn., and Kenneth W., of Wellfleet; five grandchildren, Kevin, Steven, Ryan, Katherine and Lillian; one sister, Barbara and her husband, James Cavar, of Union, Conn.; and his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Anne Kozak, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Frederic W. and Vanda Kautz, of Porto Alegre, Brazil; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, plus many friends back in Ellington, and neighbors and friends on the Outer Cape.
Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 340 Main St., Wellfleet, MA 02667.
